ECOSYSTEM SOLUTIONS NOW AUTHORISED DRONE OPERATORS

Updated: Aug 9, 2022

Ecosystem Solutions is now the holder of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Operator's Certificate (ReOC) issued by CASA (ReOC. 7741). With Gary as the Chief Registered Pilot of the Certificate.

This enables us to conduct flights to collect orthomosaic images of our sites, rather than use whatever satelite image is available on Landgate or Nearmaps. For example, a recent project we did in the Bungle Bungles, the previous landgate image was from 2002 or thereabouts. We obtained permision to fly and managed to create a new georeferenced othromosaic image of the site, which we could add into our GIS system for bushfire planning purposes.

Under our ReOC, we also have special endorsement from CASA to fly at night (not normally allowed). This allows us to use our thermal imaging drone to conduct fauna surveys from above the site as well as spotlight and ground based thermal surveys ensuring we get the most accurate data of fauna on the site.

The future options of this are staggering. I've looked at some of the LIDAR systems which we could input into vegetation condition surveys, post bushfire recovery surveys and ground form analysis for bushfire spread, and thats only scratched the surface.

If you have any questions regard this new services, please dont hesitate to give us a call to discuss.
